This month I was able to attend the once a month all day sewing day. This is a group hosted at a church, so this month I worked on putting together a new quilt top for them.
I'm quilting each block with a different design, then will join together and bind the effort. (I've FMQed before, but have not hinged blocks together for an entire quilt top, so this will be new for me!)
They gave me the batting and a piece of fabric for the back. The piece for the back isn't large enough it turns out so I'm using different fabric. So far I have two blue (and patterned) backgrounds and two green ones, so they are sort of the same colors as what is on the front.
This will be good practice for me, it's been quite a while since I have done any free motion quilting!
Hopefully, I'll get me confidence back and can finish up some projects again!
Sounds great! Is that a charity effort? =)
ReplyDeleteYes for some charity. I'm not sure which one. To be in the monthly sews I had to make some quilts for them... It's a way to practice my skills on a real project too! Thanks for coming by.
DeleteI love the colors on this piece! I've done the quilt as you go "hinged" technique and really liked how it worked out. It was the only way I was ever going to quilt a queen sized piece on my little machine, that's for sure. What fabric will you use for the sashings to hold it all together?
ReplyDeleteOh thank you for coming by. I will go to your blog to see if you made note of which method you used for putting the blocks together. I thought I knew what to do, but when I googled found different methods now so I'll need to think more on how I do things. I have hopefully enough of the lizard fabric for the front - and then on the back I'm already using several different fabrics so I can keep the scrap look up there easily. : )
