Road to CA

I just returned last night from my second Road to California. 

There are enough quilts, vendors and friends to see to stay for multiple days even if one does not take any classes.

I now know how to make these so do not need to purchase.  Took photo to compare the cost of making vs buying...

The first night we met friends who were staying too for dinner.  I forgot to take a photo - but it was so nice to be part of a welcoming group that I will see again.

My friends and I may use this diamond quilt (below) as inspiration to make a quilt!

The conference center changed the men's rooms to rooms for ladies...

Admission was around $16, the hotel room was around $150 split three ways, we had five meals, and purchased a few things too.  I got a sample pack of 13 kinds of Hobbs batting for $10, and two thread snippers for $10 (one will be a gift). I guess it was around $160 for the trip. Something to see at least on alternating years!

Starry Bright Sky QAL: The finished blocks - now to decide layout!

This has been a year long project, so of course I have misplaced a few blocks.

I was planning on making a few more, but now I have to so I have a square or rectangle quilt! : )  There are two older blocks I put in as place savers.

Guess I will end up with either 20 blocks or perhaps 24 or even 25. We'll see!

Was Menu for Block Lotto Posts

This is the blog that really got me to get the sewing machine out of its resting area - and back in to use!

Sophie has been hosting this lotto since 2002.  Each month she posts clear directions to a different quilt block design.  We can accept the challenge to make up to nine blocks - or not.  For every block we earn one chance to win a selection of the blocks for that month.  This year the stars aligned and she is doing the blocks in Liberated Quilting style.  (Something I've become very interested in!)

So I have submitted blocks each month and have been very lucky as I have already won!  What fun to have blocks arriving here made by ladies around the world!
